A LIFE-CHANGING DONATION: NALSA KENYA AND PROUDLY KENYAN PROVIDE CLEAN WATER TO MULUNDI PRIMARY SCHOOL.

“NALSA Kenya, made us very proud as a school. As board members we were wondering where we would get money to get the tanks. May God bless you and enlarge your territories.” Mutisia Mwansia Board Member Mulundi Primary
A significant step towards improving the learning environment at Mulundi Primary School was taken. NALSA Kenya, in collaboration with Proudly Kenyan, donated a much-needed water tank to the school, located in Kyangwithya East Ward of Kitui Central Constituency.
The arid region has been grappling with severe delays in rainfall and prolonged dry spells due to climate change, making it difficult for students, teachers, and staff to access clean water. Previously, students had to travel approximately 600 meters from the school to fetch water from a well that could not always guarantee cleanliness.
The headteacher, Jefferson Kilonzi, highlighted the struggle, saying, “This has helped us solve very many challenges. We will now be able to harvest clean rainwater, which will be used for cooking and other purposes in our school. It will also make sure that the common problems brought by dirty water are now prevented because our pupils will be getting clean and safe drinking water.”

Fetching water was not only time-consuming but also posed serious health risks. Many students had to use unsanitary jerry cans, increasing their exposure to waterborne diseases. Jennifer Mueni, a parent at the school, reflected on the past difficulties: “Initially, we had a lot of water problems. The children have been fetching water from the well, but now we are thankful because with this tank, we will be collecting clean water for our students, which will help improve their health.”
Recognizing the paramount importance of water for education and well-being, Agnes Makali, NALSA Kenya’s representative for Kitui Central, spearheaded the initiative to install a rainwater harvesting system and water tank. She noticed that the common problem in the area was water access in the schools which really affected the children.
“Sometimes they have to go to the river to get water, and the same is used to cook their meals. So it’s a blessing to receive water tanks in our school from NALSA Kenya and Proudly Kenyan. It feels like God has remembered us because our children will have enough clean water for cooking as well as other needs in the course of their learning.” Agnes Makali added Gratefully.

For the students, the impact of the donation is already evident. Genevieve Kamene, a pupil at Mulundi Primary, shared how the new water tank has transformed their daily routine. “Before the tank came, we used to fetch water from the borehole, and it was a struggle. Sometimes, we wasted a lot of time and didn’t have enough time to study. The sponsorship from NALSA Kenya and Proudly Kenyan has really helped the schooling and development because now the students will always have enough water.
Her goal was both simple and deeply impactful, to create a sustainable solution that fosters a more conducive learning environment for the students. By addressing the school’s immediate water needs, this initiative ensures that children can focus on their education without the burden of water scarcity. More importantly, it contributes to a long-term vision of empowerment, equipping students with the resources they need to grow into independent, responsible citizens who can positively impact their communities.
The installation of the water tank has significantly reduced the prevalence of waterborne diseases among students, ensuring they spend more time in class rather than seeking medical attention. With clean water now readily available, both teachers and pupils can focus on academic growth without the burden of water shortages.
Mulundi Primary School is immensely grateful to NALSA Kenya and Proudly Kenyan for their generous contribution. This donation has made a tangible difference in the lives of the school community and ensures a more sustainable and healthy future for the students.

“The tank has solved our water problem because before the tank came, we got water from the well. We want to thank NALSA Kenya and Proudly Kenyan for the tank and may God bless them.” Said Arnold Kiveleti a pupil in Mulundi Primary School.
