NALSA-K LAUNCHES A MODERN ABLUTION BLOCK AT SITOMA, BUNGOMA

In Tuti Marakaru ward, the sound of children playing echoes through the corridors of Sitoma Salvation Army Primary School on a sunny bright day on January 24th, 2024. The occasion: a grand launch of a modern ablution block by the National Assembly Lady Spouses Association of Kenya (NALSA-K) in partnership with Proudly Kenyan organisation.
This memorable day marked the end of the use of old facilities that saw the school grapple with issues of poor sanitation. This is truly a testament to the power of collective effort.

Present to witness the great achievement were representatives, (our phase two project partner), local administration, Tuti Marakaru community and Kanduyi Member of Parliament.
Speaking at the event, the NALSA-K area representative Mrs. Jael Makali was thankful to Proudly Kenyan for sponsoring the project. She noted that for the love of quality education, her spouse, the area MP. Hon supported the project to incorporate improved sanitation. This initiative, she believed, would not only elevate the learning experience for the students but also set the stage for broader development for the school still in its infancy stage.
Initially, the school faced challenges such as long queues at the available toilets which interfered with other school activities with learners sharing the facilities with the teachers. The congestion posed a health hazard that necessitated action to resolve the situation.
In attendance were esteemed members from the Western Chapter of the Association, including NALSA-K Chair Person Western Region Caucus Evelyne Shinali who represents Ikolomani,Mrs. Majimbo Kalasinga, Kabuchai representative, Roselyne Khamala representing Lurambi, and Nancy Wangwe of Navakholo.

Mrs. Kalasinga, the Kabuchai Representative, echoed the primary objective of the Association of supporting National Assembly Lady Spouses. She emphasized that this support is crucial in enabling them to drive development in their respective areas of representation. She called upon the community to stand with their leaders, acknowledging the challenges they face in steering positive change.
Also present to witness the great achievement were the local administration and members of the Tuti Marakaru community.
