A New Dawn for Kamirithu Primary School

In November 2024, NALSA Kenya, in partnership with Proudly Kenyan, marked a significant milestone in the education sector by launching a state-of-the-art ablution block at Kamirithu Primary School in Limuru.
“The toilets were not in good condition, which was affecting the Image of the school and that is why we are so grateful, because this washroom is going to go a long way in helping our students.” Said Mary, BOM Vice Chair of Kamirithu Primary.
The dilapidated state of the previous ablution block posed serious health risks to the students. The crumbling infrastructure and unsanitary conditions not only affected the students’ well-being but also tarnished the school’s image. Recognizing the urgent need for improvement, NALSA Kenya and Proudly Kenyan took decisive action.

It features modern facilities, including separate toilets for boys and girls, as well as dedicated facilities for students with special needs, ensuring every child has access to clean and hygienic sanitation.
The newly constructed ablution block is a testament to the organizations’ commitment to providing quality education.
“I feel happy and God bless them for giving us these new toilets. I can now comfortably use these because before, the old ones did not look good and would easily spread diseases.”
Victor, a pupil of Kamirithu Primary School.
Mrs. Kiragu, who grew up in the neighborhood, understands the challenges faced by the community firsthand. This personal connection fueled their determination to make a positive impact on the school and by choosing to prioritize the construction of the ablution block, they have shown a deep commitment to improving the lives of the students.

“I grew up in this village and when we were growing up we didn’t have such facilities. When Proudly Kenyan reached out to NALSA for a project, I immediately chose the ablution block, even though I felt the materials provided might not be sufficient. However, I was confident that Proudly Kenyan would always return to complete what they started.” Explained Mrs. Kiragu, NALSA Kenya representative, Limuru Constituency.
Kamiritu Primary School is immensely grateful to Nalsa Kenya and Proudly Kenyan for their generous contribution. The school community pledges to maintain the facilities and ensure their longevity, fostering a healthier and more hygienic learning environment for future generations..
“We feel excited because now we have toilets for the persons living with disability, and people will love our school. We want to say thank you to NALSA Kenya and Proudly Kenyan.” Mercy a student from Kamirithu Primary expressed gratitude.
