LOOKING AHEAD TO A BRIGHTER FUTURE FOR NANGA’NDA JUNIOR SECONDARY AND ESOKONE PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN KAKAMEGA

LOOKING AHEAD TO A BRIGHTER FUTURE FOR NANGA’NDA JUNIOR SECONDARY AND ESOKONE PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN KAKAMEGA
January 21, 2024Brian AnyanzwaPROUDLY KENYANLURAMBINAVAKHOLO

The completion and launch of a staffroom at Nang’anda Junior Secondary School and the renovation of two classrooms at Esokone Primary on 20th January 2023 will help the community in Navakholo and Lurambi respectively dream of a future where education is not only accessible but also equipped with quality learning facilities.

The ongoing collaboration between Proudly Kenyan- a social and community outreach organisation and NALSA-Kenya, an association comprising lady spouses of Kenyan parliamentarians, and the local communities in Kenya exemplifies the power of partnerships in driving positive change in society.

The launch of the constructed blocks at Nang’anda and Esokone is not just about physical structures; it symbolises NALSA-K’s  investment in the overall well-being of the learners, the growth of the local community, and the academic environment of generations to come. The staffroom at the junior secondary school was necessary after the institution was hived off from Nang’anda primary school. The school has been lacking this facility since it was established a year ago.

Navakholo area representative, Nancy Wangwe read the plaque after officially opening a staffroom block at Nanga’nda Junior Secondary.

Representing NALSA-K chairlady Ms Electina Wanyonyi, Evelyn Shinali, Ikolomani Constituency representative and chairperson of the western caucus of NALSA-K thanked Proudly Kenyan for agreeing to work with NALSA-K.

Roselyne Khamala, Lurambi representative stated “We are blessed to get this classroom, it is timely and we are grateful to the teachers, parents and pupils of Esokone Primary.”

Given the chance to address the gathering, the Kakamega Sub-County Director of Education, Charles Kibet Kiptum said “The priority must be education, your first wealth is your child as it has been demonstrated today”

Lastly, the proudly Kenyan Programme Manager, Stella Wangare revealed that local contractors were utilised during the sourcing of materials and construction workers to plough back and have an impact on the Lurambi and Navakholo communities.

Significantly the twin event was attended by 7 NALSA-K members that included; Irene Waluke – Sirisia Constituency, Dorcas Ikana – Shinyalu Constituency, Rose Igabe – Likuyani Constituency, Imelda Mulanya – Nambale Constituency, Jael Makali – Kanduyi Constituency, Marsella Wamboka – Bumula Constituency and Mercy Akinyi – Webuye East Constituency.

The happenings at Lurambi and Navakholo constituencies are a testament to the resolve by NALSA-K to empower women, youth and children across the Country as well as a show of solidarity that NALSA-K ladies are embracing their diversity by working together for the benefit of all. The project adds to 15 the total number of projects conducted so far in phase two of the Proudly Kenyan-sponsored projects.
