REVITALISING EDUCATION IN NDHIWA PRIMARY SCHOOL’S THROUGH CLASSROOM RENOVATION

In the heart of Ndhiwa Constituency, an initiative to transform the educational landscape for the students in Ndhiwa Constituency has kicked off. This is after the launch of classrooms renovated by Proudly Kenyan and the National Assembly Lady Spouses Association of Kenya (NALSA-K) today at Ndhiwa Primary School.
The launch marks a significant step towards providing a conducive learning environment for students at the school.

Ndhiwa Primary School has experienced numerous challenges in terms of infrastructure. The learners were exposed to dusty classrooms with missing windows and dilapidated walls which were also congested. Such conditions not only created a poor learning environment that contributed to demotivated students.
The poor state of the school facilities always has a direct impact on the student’s well-being and academic performance. The absence of adequate ventilation could affect student’s health with overcrowded classrooms hindering effective teaching and learning.

With the renovations, the Ndhiwa Member of Parliament, Mr. Martin Owino relayed that the school will be one of the best schools in the world. However, the MP has decried the rise in the number of cases of teenage pregnancies. He therefore urged the students to be of good morals, focus on their education and stop engaging in early sexual activities.
“Ndhiwa is number one in teenage pregnancies, Homa Bay county. This must stop so that girls can learn, said the NALSA-K Ndhiwa Representative Mama Phoebe Owino.
On her part, the Vice Chair of NALSA-K Ms Salome Atandi explained that together with Proudly Kenyan, NALSA-K has implemented several projects. “In 2021 we were privileged to meet and do 16 projects together.” She further stated.

At the launch event, Stella Wangare- Project Manager, who was the chief guest briefed how the Ndhiwa Representative, Madam Phoebe saw the condition of the classrooms and came up with a proposal that has seen Proudly Kenyan support renovation of two classrooms.
“We invested in this project because children have a right to education,” said Wangare. “We aim to promote education and help you have a better education,” she added.

The launch of this transformative project is a testament to the belief that investing in education is an investment in the future. It is a beacon of hope, lighting the way for a renewed commitment to education and the dreams it holds.
