NALSA(K) board meet the First Lady of Kenya

NALSA(K) board meet the First Lady of Kenya
December 4, 2022BLOGS BY NALSANALSA(K) Board

The Board Members of NALSA(K) had an audience with First Lady H.E. Mama Rachel Ruto, EGH, on Friday, 12 December 2022.

There were two main reasons for the visit. The first was to request Mama Rachel, as First Lady of the Republic of Kenya, and in accordance with the NALSA(K) constitution, to be the association’s Patron. It is a great honour and privilege for us that she accepted our request.

Mrs Electina Wanyonyi, NALSA(K) chair, gives a presentation on behalf of the board during their visit to State House.

The second reason was to ask Her Excellency to share her priority areas with us and to determine which of NALSA (K) objectives we could align with the First Lady’s agenda. We noted that climate action and environmental preservation are one of her priority areas. To this end, we as NALSA(K) shall align objective no. 4 of our constitution – “To encourage the preservation of our environment for posterity” – with Her Excellency’s priority area on climate action.

Her Excellency also spoke to the association’s other three objectives, encouraging the membership to:
1) offer a supportive role to our spouses,
2) promote our personal growth, and
3) enhance socio-economic growth within the grassroots.

The Board also got to demonstrate what the association’s members have already been doing in their constituencies. We had a sample of the briquettes from Vice Chair Salome Atandi, which showed we are already committed to climate action.

NALSA(K) Vice Chair, Salome Atandi, gives a presentation to H.E. Rachel Ruto on the Nyiinam Briquettes.

We remain humbled by Her Excellency’s kind gesture.
