EWEMWA GIFTS SCHOOL UNIFORMS TO PUPILS IN EMBAKASI WEST.

Introduction
Food, shelter, and clothing are non-negotiable basic needs. Therefore, having a neat and well-fitting school uniform is an immediate need for a school-going child. This need becomes alarming when the child is from an economically challenged background. Studies conducted by the World Bank indicate that receiving a uniform cuts down on school absenteeism by 37 percent, for an average student.
Back to dignity.
In this initiative, dubbed “Back To Dignity,” eleven public schools in Embakasi West received uniform gifts. A total of 2200 pupils had adorned new attires by the end of the distribution exercise. Our Embakasi West representative, Cynthia Gitonga, engineered this program through her non-profit, Embakasi West Eagle Mamas Welfare Association (EWEMWA). In her speech at one of the events at Busara Primary, Cynthia opines, “We hope the school uniforms change lives and impact the general performance of the school.”

List of beneficiary schools:

Direct benefits to the child.
i) The child enjoys peace and dignity maintained.
ii) Consistent school attendance.
iii) A new uniform boosts the morale of the pupil.

Conclusion.
We extend gratitude to Proudly Kenyan for making this dream come true for many pupils in Embakasi West public Primary Schools. We await to see the impact the gifts have on the children and pick up a few lessons on how this affects overall school participation. All in all, EWEMWA is definitely empowering lives and ultimately fulfilling NALSA (K) objectives in Embakasi West.
